Greek cuisine is a vibrant tapestry spun with threads of history, culture, and custom. Rising over 4,000 years, foreign invasions, ancient civilizations, and Mediterranean plenty have molded it. The ancient Greeks, who valued straightforward yet delicious cuisine with an eye toward grains, olives, and wine, lay the groundwork for this culinary legacy.
The Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman empires contributed fresh foodstuffs and cooking methods over time, therefore augmenting Greece's already rich gastronomic reputation.
Greek food is unique because it reflects the land itself. The nation's sunny environment, rocky topography, and access to fresh marine fostered perfect tomatoes, salty feta cheese, and golden olive oil—. The Mediterranean diet from which Greek cuisine origin is praised for its health advantages, a harmonic balance of taste and nutrition, not only for its flavors.
Greek cuisine celebrates communities and connects to the past, therefore transcending mere nourishment. Its impact goes much beyond the boundaries of Greece to inspire Mediterranean and worldwide cuisine. From a filling moussaka to a fresh spanakopita, every meal recounts a centuries-spanning tale. Embracing its past helps you to appreciate an ongoing legacy rather than only cuisine.
Choosing this tour, you will cook Greek recipes and get acquainted with the secrets of Greek traditional cuisine.
In the middle of the Argolic plain, in an idyllic location, is the farmhouse that will host us for this unique tasting experience. We will tour the rich orchards that surround the farmhouse and learn about the organic fruit and vegetable crops that thrive in this blessed land.
People here are reviving centuries-old cultivation methods and producing raw materials completely naturally. Thus, the produce that we will collect from the orchards will have their full authentic and fresh taste.
We will then gather in the equipped kitchen of the wonderful stone house and a culinary feast will begin, based on local Greek recipes. Together with the chef, we will knead breads and orange cookies. We will make delicious Greek food, some well-known to everyone and others that we will try for the first time.
Wonderful local wines will accompany our food and will be close with a delicious traditional dessert. Oil, wine and oranges will be the treats we will take with us, experiencing the renowned Greek hospitality, just like if you were in a friendly local home in a Greek village.
